Why evenskin.ai exists.
Skincare advice is broken. Influencers sell what pays. Quizzes point you toward whoever bought the traffic. The biggest brands crowd out the best ones. We built an AI advisor that doesn't have a dog in those fights.
The problem we're solving
Most skincare recommendations you encounter online are shaped by someone's commercial interest. A brand sponsored that TikTok. An affiliate network promoted that listicle. A media company took ad money from the same company whose product it's reviewing. By the time advice reaches you, it's been filtered through so many commercial layers that "what's actually good for your skin" is nearly impossible to answer honestly.
We think AI changes the economics of honest advice. An AI advisor has no favorites, no friends in the industry, no photoshoots to justify. It can read your specific inputs — age, skin type, concerns, routine, sensitivities, budget — and recommend from a curated catalog based on the actual chemistry, not the marketing.
"Every recommendation on this site is generated based on your answers, not our margins. And we publish the numbers that prove it."
How we actually make money
We earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links. That's it. We do not take sponsorships, paid placements, brand fees, or featured-position payments. No brand has ever paid us to recommend them.
To keep the advice honest, we have two hard rules:
- At least one in every five recommendations is non-affiliate. We earn zero on CeraVe, Cetaphil, Vanicream, Bioderma, Avène, Aquaphor. When they're the right answer, we say so.
- Commission rates are published next to every product. When commissions vary across products, you'll see exactly what we earn on each. You can weigh our incentives.
What's different about our AI
We use Claude, built by Anthropic, with a custom system prompt that constrains recommendations to our curated catalog and enforces safety rules: no retinoids for pregnant users, no harsh actives for irritated skin, drugstore-only for budgets under $30. Beyond text-based reasoning, our AI reads your progress photos at 2, 4, and 8 weeks — comparing your skin against your own baseline, not someone else's before-and-after.
It's not magic. It's not medical. It's a tool that happens to be very good at pattern-matching ingredient profiles against stated concerns — without the commercial filters that distort human-curated advice.
Who built this
evenskin.ai is an independent company. Small team, no outside investors. We are not venture-funded. We are not acquired. We don't have a boardroom pushing us to optimize for the next fundraise. That's deliberate. It's what lets us commit to one-in-five non-affiliate picks — a rule that would make us unfundable by most traditional investors but keeps us honest.
Where to start
Take the quiz. Get a recommendation. Add a baseline photo if you want. Come back in two weeks. If we're wrong, tell us — we'll explain our reasoning and adjust. That's the whole product.
